Just wanted to say I’m really happy with the dynamic there’s been since I’ve moved home from college.
I’m not treated like a high schooler in regards to going out, drinking, what I do with my money.
They just want to know I’m safe and haven’t set a curfew.
We’ve even started talking about my personal (dating) life, which is huge cause they were fairly against dating till I finished school. I brought a girl home a month or two ago to meet them, didnt work out, and am less nervous to in the future.
My dad and I even joke about sex, buuuuut I’m not ready to bridge that gap just yet.
I’m trying to reciprocate by being more proactive in offering to help around the house and pay for things on my own. Just to let them know I appreciate the change.
The goal is to first save up for my own car, find a job related to my major after this construction gig ends in the fall, then hopefully move into my own place.
But in the meantime, I’m very lucky. It’s been a rough year, but I graduated, have no debt, and a supportive family.
I’m finally being treated like an adult.
Happy Father’s Day
